1.        How many jobs will this create?

GPTVL will work with Stockton Borough Council and partners to maximise opportunities for local people.  The plant will create approximately 50 full time positions in and around the plant, with about a further 50 full time positions in the support functions, logistics and supply chain.

2.        How many will it sustain during construction and how long will construction take?

During construction the plant will create up to 400 positions.  Construction and commissioning of the plant will take around 30 months.  Opportunities for apprenticeships will be created through the placing of a construction contract.  There will be supply chain opportunities for local business through procurement phase.

3.        What is your anticipated start date?

The anticipated start date for operations will be Q2 2012.

4.        What types of jobs will they be and will they be skilled or unskilled?

The job types will vary across the whole employment sector, from degree qualified engineers, through qualified technicians, skilled labour and unskilled labour as well as administrative and managerial functions.  We will also seek to create opportunities for apprenticeships in appropriate functional areas, which again will be available for local people.

5.        Will any go to local people?

We will be working closely with our contractors, the Local Authority and its partners to ensure that local people are able to benefit as much as possible from both construction and operational job opportunities.  We shall be working to define skills and local partnerships will be fully engaged in this to provide access to skills and training as necessary.  Whilst we cannot guarantee local people will have the appropriate skills for some of the jobs, we will work with local organisations to give people equal opportunities to apply where possible and gain the necessary skills. 

 

6.        What kind of salaries will be on offer?

The salaries will be in keeping with those for similar positions on Teesside.

7.        What kind of training will people get?

Appropriate training will be provided for all employees.
